Hipsters

First of all parden the delay in writing...

anyway what are hipsters?

i realized that there is a general loss of all things good, lately:

mainstream music sucks,
Look at mtv over the past 20 years...

Movies blow
Movies are increasingly turning towards the pg13 rating to appeal to more people, and quality high brow movies are on the drop

Our vocabs are decreasing

The baltimore symphony is struggling.

Politics and justice are degrading...
Bush obviously, but even look at the supreme court to overturn the floridas recount vote.... all the republicans voted not to allow the recount.... all the democrats for. Now this is a states rights issue which is a critical republican stance, sold out for obvious reasons.... the supreme court.... down.

there is a sense of a decline of aesthetics, of essential goodness...

Hipsters feel the vacancy of the lack of presence passion and beauty of our times and are all about how real to the vacant void of our cultaral emotional landscape can you be....

Interesting....

Not that i am joining them, but at least they are feeling...

Throughout human history there have always been those that have looked back on the past with some kind of blase nostalgia. These people look back at some imagined past they never lived in saying things they can't possibly justify. Things like - 'athletes were just better in my day', or 'old movies are always better.' For these people the world is always going down.

What to me is interesting is that these same people don't live in the past. Like the guy in the link at the end of this comment.

I say live life now. Enjoy it. We have wonderful things that people in the past could never of imagined. We taste things that those 50 years ago would have cringed at (e.g. curry, sushi). We can travel to distant lands semi-affordably and fast, we can communicate across the world in an instant, we can cure horrible diseases. Humans are killing each other less frequently then ever, and things like slavery and torture have been almost completely purged from the world. Are there problems? Yes. Many. Should we focus on them, yes. Resolution happens through positive action, not regression. Hipsters that focus on the past and complain about the present are to me true hypocrites. If they truly cared about the problems they would be fixing them, not whining about them.

Link to artist David McDermott's video. This guy believes that all technical change should be ceased.
